Langosta Beach: Easy to get to, fun to stay at
How do I get to Langosta Beach?
Langosta Beach is at the northernmost point of Cancun’s hotel zone, a few miles east of the city. Being one of the better known around the place, any taxi driver is bound to know where it is by name alone. But getting here on a bus or colectivo is much cheaper and very easy since a couple of lines cover the entire hotel zone, all you have to know is where to get off. If, however, you drive here, there’s a small parking lot across the street where you can leave your car.
The facilities at Langosta Beach
Besides your usual public beach facilities, Langosta has some features geared towards children. There are a couple of kids’ play areas. One, with things like swings and see-saws, is right next to the beach; another, called Float Cancun, is—as its name implies—floating off the coast.
Soccer is a big part of Mexican culture and one of the most common beach activities among teenagers and young adults. To avoid mishaps, there’s a small soccer field at Langosta to attract local players and reduce the risk of a soccer ball landing in your nachos.
As we’ve mentioned before, Langosta is in the middle of Cancun’s hotel zone. As such, it is surrounded by places to eat and other public beaches to visit, such as Tortugas, a few miles away.
The Beach at Langosta Beach
Finding space is not a problem at Langosta as it’s one of the larger beaches in the area, and kids love its calm and shallow waters.
Though Langosta has the trademark white sand and clear waters of the Riviera Maya beaches, that’s not the case the entire year. Throughout the last months of the year, the sea tears up the algae from the bottom and washes it off to the coast, turning the water a not-so-attractive green color.
Because of it, though, during that time the beach becomes less crowded, so, if you don’t mind the green tinge, that’s one thing to consider.
