Maroma Beach, away from the noise and the crowds
I know what you’re thinking: you’d love to stay at the Riviera Maya, away from the crowds and noise of the popular clubs and restaurants. Maroma Beach is perfect for those who would rather spend their time with their feet buried in the sand and listening to the swoosh of the low tide.
Hotels and beaches in Maroma Beach
Away from the most popular destinations like Playa del Carmen, Maroma Beach is quiet and secluded. No big hotels here, or the nightclubs typical of the Caribbean experience; just smaller, beachfront boutique hotels and restaurants.
Although all the beaches are public, they are pretty private, as they don’t tend to have road access and can only be reached through the hotels and restaurants. With their powdery, white sand and bright, turquoise waters, they are widely considered some of the most beautiful in the whole of the Riviera Maya.
What to do in Maroma Beach
Quiet doesn’t mean nothing to do. As is the norm in the Mexican Caribbean, it’s worth peeking under the surface of the water. Spend some time snorkeling and you’ll discover scenes with all kinds of colorful fish and sea creatures. Sea creatures which until now, you’d only seen in fish tanks and computer screensavers.
And low-depth snorkeling is not the only thing to do, either. You can also dive in deeper waters or glide across the surface on a kayak. And, if swimming is not for you, you can even go horseback riding.
What to see near Maroma Beach
Remember those wedding scenes in movies? The couple and their loved ones on a beautiful, lonely beach? Some of them are probably filmed in Punta Maroma, one of the beaches in Maroma which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
And, if boutique hotels are not small enough for you, Punta Bete is not far away. There, you can rent a cabin or even take your hotel with you, as there are camping zones to stay right next to the water.
