Noh Mozon cenote hits all the right spots

The Noh Mozon cenote is an open cenote with 9 meters of free fall. You descend through a wooden staircase that provides the entrance to the cenote. This ends in a platform from which you can enter the water. The color of the water in the Noh Mozon cenote is blue. Its mirror measures 100 feet long by 65 ft wide and has a maximum depth of 150 ft. Because of its beauty, its open vault easily resembles a natural pool. The true extent of the cenote lies below the surface. To fully experience Noh Mozon, you will need to put on your snorkeling gear and embark on an unforgettable adventure in an alien world.

Noh Mozon cenote: What to expect

The cenote has 3 caves with ideal development for full cave divers, which reach up to 45 meters.

The sun that enters from the mouth of cenote Noh Mozón creates a play of light in its transparent waters throughout the day, at sunset you can observe the rich fauna found in the place, such as birds and bats that nest nearby.

 How to get there

Noh-Mozón is one of the most beautiful and one of the least known cenotes in Yucatán; to get there you need to walk several kilometers of a narrow path through thick vegetation, crossing some fences that try, without much success, to prevent cattle from roaming freely and yet, both the road and the place are well worth the adventure.

Noh-Mozón is located 39 kilometers from Mérida, in the commissary of Pixyah, municipality of Tecoh, Yucatán. To get there take the Merida-Cancun highway, then the turnoff to Acanceh and Tecoh and from there to the small town of Pixyah… the local children will guide you in exchange for a tip (this is the best way to get there, as the road to the cenote is not so easy). Don’t forget to bring water, insect repellent, some snacks and the desire to get in touch with nature in one of its most exquisite manifestations.
