Inspired by his wife’s admiration for sunflowers, they undertook the task of cultivating these vibrant blooms in various colors. The sunflower isn’t a common sight in Yucatán. So, enthusiasts had to source seeds from other parts of the country. The region’s abundant sunshine makes it an ideal climate for sunflowers. These radiant flowers thrive on ample sunlight.

The Suut K’iin Lool garden has become a picturesque haven for Yucatecans and tourists alike, offering countless photo opportunities amidst the stunning sunflower fields. This charming location hosts three distinct sunflower seasons, each a perfect time to explore the beauty and capture memorable snapshots. Visitors can also purchase seeds, flowers, and unique souvenirs from the garden. The sunflower seasons span different periods throughout the year:

  • May to June
  • August to September
