Sea lion sighting in San Rafaelito: When to come

From mid-October to the conclusion of May annually, La Paz welcomes the opportune season for swimming with sea lions. However, during the crucial breeding months of June, July, and August, engaging in this activity is strictly prohibited. This legal restriction aims to safeguard the peace and well-being of pregnant females and their vulnerable pups, ensuring an environment free from disturbances. It’s a time when the males engage in fierce competition for the attention of the females, rendering it unsafe for any aquatic encounters. The regulation not only upholds the welfare of the sea lion community but also emphasizes the importance of respecting their natural life cycles.
