Nizuc Beach : A Lonely Beach in Cancun’s Hotel Zone
You might think finding a lonely, quiet beach in one of the busiest hotel zones in the world might be a little impossible, but that’s Nizuc Beach in a nutshell: the perfect place for those looking to absorb the beauty of a Cancun beach, away from the crowds of tourists.
Nizuc is a lonely beach in Cancun’s hotel zone
If you’ve ever been to Cancun, you’ll know the geography of its hotel zone is unique. It’s away from the rest of the city, on a long and narrow strip of land, flanked by the sea, on one side, and the Nichupte lagoon on the other. And Nizuc is at the southernmost point.
Small and lonely, Nizuc is unlike the rest of the beaches around here; one of those you come to get some quiet time, hear the sounds of the ocean, and maybe read a book in peace.
What to do at Nizuc Beach
Other than the customary bathrooms, there are no rentals of any kind here, so make sure you bring everything you’re going to need, like a towel or food. You can use one of the shaded tables or sit under a palm tree, but it’s always smart to bring your umbrella to protect yourself from the sun. The ocean at Nizuc is calm and not very deep, great for children.
For a couple of hours each morning, this place becomes pet friendly, so bring your furry little friend to enjoy the beach and the ocean with you. Treat this place as a public park: be responsible and pick up after your pet.
Snorkeling and diving
As it’s normal with the Riviera Maya beaches, snorkeling is not only permitted, but encouraged, as Nizuc’s waters are great for those just starting to flap their flippers.
Those more experienced can book a diving tour a little further away from the coast. See Nizuc’s reef and the underwater sculptures and statues of the MUSA: the Subaquatic Museum of Art.
