Pescadores Beach : The Fishermen’s Beach

Pescadores Beach, one of Tulum’s beaches, serves as the vibrant hub where captivating maritime adventures begin. This dynamic beachfront destination not only offers pristine sands and turquoise waters but also serves as the launching point for unforgettable journeys to explore Tulum’s majestic reef and marvel at the Archaeological Zone from a unique sea-bound perspective. This beach has rightfully earned its reputation as a bustling epicenter of excitement and exploration.

Where is Playa Pescadores?

Carretera Tulum Ruinas a Boca Paila Km. 3. The road that takes you around the Tulum National Park, and eventually to Tulum’s famous Mayan ruins, passes through a few of the town’s most famous beaches. Pescadores Beach is right between Paraiso and Santa Fe, and they’re so close together, you can walk on the sand from one to the next.

There’s a place to eat and a Wi-Fi zone—as there’s no signal on the beach—right on the access from the road. But, once you reach the beach, you’ll find even more places to eat, like Casa Galeones or the grill on Playa Pescadores Beach Club.

If you wish to enjoy this place for more than a few hours, there are plenty of places to stay the night or even a few days. The aforementioned Playa Pescadores Beach Club also has deluxe ocean-view huts, and the jungle huts and bungalows of the Ikal Tulum Hotel are a short distance away.

The beach at Playa Pescadores

The beaches around here look very similar to the one in Tulum’s famous archeological site, so you know what to expect: a long stretch of sand with hardly any buildings around. But that means there aren’t many services, either. There are no palapas to offer shade, and all the palm trees chose to remain back in the jungle. Make sure you bring everything you’re going to need.

As we mentioned before, there’s no Wi-Fi signal on the beach. This is a place to escape civilization and relax. It’s not like in other, more secluded beaches around Tulum and neighboring areas, though. Here, you’ll still be among large groups of tourists and locals.

The Pescadores

Why is this place called Pescadores? The answer presents itself the moment you set foot on the beach and see the countless motorboats. These belong to the fishermen—“pescadores,” in Spanish—who are continually setting off from here. Not just to go out fishing; they also offer all kinds of guided tours for tourists at a very reasonable rate.
