Playa Paraiso: Mayan Ruins and a Beautiful Beach
The name says it all: Playa Paraiso, or, paradise beach, is the perfect place to go on vacation. Why go? There are several reasons, one of them is that it is one of the few public beaches still left in the area. Playa Paraiso has repeatedly been voted one of the best beaches in Mexico—and the world. This place has it all: you can enjoy the beautiful landscape, the different hues of blue that the sea displays and even see the Mayan ruins of Tulum (they are only a few feet away from the beach zone).
Where is Playa Paraiso?
Playa Paraiso is the most famous spot in Tulum, Quintana Roo—and one of the most iconic places to visit in the Riviera Maya. It is only 83 miles from Cancún and 42 miles from Playa del Carmen.
The average temperature of this beach is 78°F. During the summer months, the temperature rises slightly to 80-82°F. And in the winter, the temperature lowers to a balmy 75°F.
What is there to do?
Besides venturing into the water for a swim, you can rent a beach chair to simply enjoy the beach and the sand under your feet. There are plenty of restaurants nearby where you can try all sorts of food—especially seafood. You can visit the archeological site. The famous Mayan ruins stand proud on top of a cliff, the construction dates back to the sixth century and was an important site for commerce. The beach and the ruins provide an experience you won’t want to miss.
The Xel-Há Park is only 11 miles away from Playa Paraiso, where you can swim with dolphins and tropical fish. Keep in mind that the amount of people you find on the beach depends on the season you visit, but we can assure you…there is no shortage of things to do in paradise beach!
