Xplor: Let your adventurous side take over

Feeling adventurous? Pay a visit to the recently opened Xplor park, just south of Playa del Carmen. Explore the caves, drive through the jungle, and ride one of the longest zip line circuits in the world. Then, do it all over again—in the dark.

The activities at Xplor park

At three stories high and 2 miles long, Xplor has two of the highest, longest, and most scenic zip line circuits in the world. You might’ve crossed the jungle at tree-top height before, but have you ever heard of a zip line that takes you under the surface into a cenote?

Not too keen on heights? Get behind the wheel of one of the 4-wheel amphibious vehicles and drive across the jungle, instead. In the caves, the adventure continues. Admire the rock formations at your own pace as you paddle a raft with your hands. Then, jump in the water and cross the .2-mile-long underground river system.

After adventuring all morning, you’re bound to be hungry enough to eat a T-Rex. The buffet at Xplor park is open all day ‘till noon, and it features some local dishes, smoothies, and different flavored drinks. Grab a bite and take a walk around the park as there are plenty of overlooks, hammocks, and chairs to rest.

Xplor park provides you with state-of-the-art equipment

You will be given a helmet with a chip in it. This chip is read by cameras around the park that will automatically take and store pictures of you. You can purchase the pictures at the end of your visit to show your family and friends (if they’re not too embarrassing).

For another adventure, enjoy Xplor park at night

If daytime adventure is too vanilla for you, the park is also open at night, though some of the activities, like the zip lines and the car routes, are a bit more limited. On the flip side, the night lighting gives Xplor park another, out-of-this-world, feel. Just imagine riding the zip line through a ring of fire.
