Xel-Ha Eco Park
If you’re planning to visit the Riviera Maya, it’s no secret you’ll be doing mostly aquatic activities—some of which, under the surface. If that’s the case, Xel-Ha Eco Park is a great place to start. Besides being fun, many of the park activities can be a great first try at going below the surface in a controlled and safe environment.
The main activities at Xel-Ha
Of course, Xel-Ha is mainly a theme park, so it is mostly geared to include everyone’s idea of fun. There are waterslides for those looking for a more traditional water park experience. Those who like to mix their fun with more physical, sporty activities will find something, too. You can row a kayak or bike through the jungle. There are even experiences for the more extreme crowd looking to get an adrenaline rush, like zip lines or a 16-foot drop to the crystal-clear waters below.
Xel-Ha has something for your kids, too
If you’re traveling with children, Xel-Ha has a whole section devoted to them in the park. It is a sort of playground with things like slides and other fun and safe aquatic activities. There are even a couple of protected areas in which kids of the right age can try their hand at snorkeling for the first time.
Get Your First Scuba Experience at Xel-Ha
Children are not the only group of people who can have their first underwater experience at Xel-Ha. This is the perfect place to try snorkeling or scuba diving. Some of their extra packages, or add-ons, like the Snuba, provide you with equipment akin to an oxygen tank, but easier to use, and a certified guide. See what it’s like to walk on the bottom of the sea surrounded by colorful fish. Then do it again, only this time at a cenote.
Visit other Xcaret parks
Xel-ha is part of a larger set of amazing parks called Xcaret. Visit Xenses, Xplor, Xoximilco, and Xavage.
