Spend your family vacation in Isla Mujeres at Beló Hotel

Though smaller than other nearby cities like Cancun and Playa del Carmen, there’s no shortage of lodging options in Isla Mujeres. There are many, smaller, boutique hotels and hostels, mostly geared toward younger visitors. But families need another kind of lodging. The Beló, a five-star hotel, is a much better fit.

Where is the Beló Hotel?

Beló Hotel is on the western shore of Isla Mujeres, towards the south of the island. Though the airport and ferry are on the northern side, getting to Beló via public transport is not that long or difficult; a bus is probably the best and less expensive option.

The hotel is on Carretera Sac Bajo, close to the city’s downtown and a few of Isla Mujeres’ most famous tourist attractions, like Garrafon Park and Punta Sur.

Beló’s Hotel Amenities

Though a more traditional hotel than other lodgings around Isla Mujeres, Beló is no giant resort, either. Its smaller size makes common—usually overlooked—things, like walking from the pool to your room, quite comfortable, which is great for families with small children. But that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of services at Beló.

The place has a decent size pool of varying depths and a bar. There’s another bar, however, on the roof of the main building—aptly named Top—in which you can enjoy a drink sitting in a jacuzzi or an infinite pool. The view is amazing; you can see Cancun from here. There are two restaurants as well, famous for their delicious, traditional Mexican food.

Beló’s rates range from USD 200 to USD 300, depending on the room and, especially, the season.

Belo’s beach

Belo’s beach might be its downside. It’s small and narrow, and its waters are definitely not clear. They are shallow and calm, though; great for children to enjoy, which might be its saving grace.

You can dock your enormous yacht (if you have one) on its long, beautiful dock, which it’s mostly used to take social media pictures, as it does offer a great backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
