Stay Put for a Couple of Days at Nomads Hotel

There are so many places to see in the Riviera Maya, that it’s impossible to stay put in one single place. Thus, many choose to travel their way around the Yucatan peninsula by spending only a day or two at one place before moving on to the next one. Nomads Hotel, Hostel, and Beach Club, in Isla Mujeres, was built with those nomads in mind.

Where is Nomads?

Nomads is on the west shore of Isla Mujeres, on the south side of the island. Though the ferry to Cancun and the Isla Mujeres Airport are on the northern side, if you’ve ever been to Isla Mujeres, you’ll know that hardly matters at all. Being so small, everything here is nearby.

Nomads is close to some of Isla Mujeres’ most interesting spots of all kinds, like Garrafon Natural Park, Punta Sur, and MUSA, Cancun’s Subaquatic Art Museum, to which you can book a tour from the hotel itself.

There are two types of lodgings at Nomads Hotel

For nomad visitors, the Nomad hostel-style rooms are a great option to enjoy an exclusive hotel for only a fraction of the price. These consist of bunk beds, multi-toilet, and multi-sink bathrooms and lockers to safely leave their stuff, and are shared, either with a group of friends or total strangers. A few of these rooms are for female guests only. Their rates fluctuate between a few bucks (around USD 12.50) to a bit less than USD 50, depending on the season.

Those guests looking for a more traditional hotel experience can book a private room at Nomads too, which includes a queen-size bed and private bathroom. Of course, they have a heftier price tag that can reach USD 200.

A Nomads environment

Nomads has a beach club, which is accessible for guests and outsiders alike, and thus, this is a place mostly for the younger crowd. The décor—wood, ropes, and some concrete, with hanging light bulbs casting a yellowish, semi-dark shade on the bar and tables—gives it a romantic and relaxing mood. Perfect to start planning where you’ll move on to next.
