Gaviota Azul Beach: A Celebrity Among Beaches

Sitting at the easternmost point of Cancun’s hotel area lies Gaviota Azul Beach. It is a hidden gem often mistakenly referred to as “Gabiota Azul Beach.” This renowned destination stands out as a celebrity among beaches, boasting pristine shores and captivating beauty.

Where is Gaviota Azul Beach?

Gaviota Azul rests at the easternmost point of Cancun’s hotel area. Its accessibility is convenient, positioned adjacent to the renowned Coco Bongo nightclub. Buses traversing Kukulcan Blvd. offer direct access to this picturesque beach. While parking facilities are absent, numerous supermarkets in the vicinity provide convenient parking options for visitors.

The beach at Gaviota Azul

If you’ve ever seen a Cancun advertisement showing a picture of a long, white-sanded beach washed by the waters of a bright-blue ocean that turns an even deeper shade of blue a bit further off the coast, it was probably taken at Gaviota Azul. By far, this is the “cancuniest” beach of them all.

Here, the sea can be a bit rougher than on other beaches around Cancun, so, besides swimming and snorkeling, Gaviota is a great place to practice other, more extreme sports, like surfing.

Some cons 🙁

As it’s generally considered one of the most beautiful—if not the most beautiful—beaches in Cancun, it can get very crowded, especially during peak season. Gaviota Azul is definitely for those who like to be surrounded by people.

Experience the trendiest zone in all of Cancun

As we mentioned before, the Coco Bongo nightclub is right on the beach, and the Mandala beach club is right next door. We’re in the middle of the trendiest zone in Cancun, after all. Because of that, Gaviota Azul is surrounded by all kinds of restaurants and the most exclusive hotels and beach clubs in the area, like the Grand Fiesta Americana, Hyatt, and Ocean Dream. There are also many beautiful apartments for rent via Airbnb.

The mood here is younger and more party-like than in other places, for sure.
