Tortugas Beach is One of Cancun’s Oldest Beaches

One of the most famous beaches in the Cancun hotel zone, Tortugas Beach—or “Playa Tortugas”, in Spanish—is very easy to get to. Plus, it’s surrounded by all kinds of services and amenities to make your day here a complete one.

Where is Tortugas Beach?

Located to the north of Cancun’s hotel zone, Tortugas is so traditional, any taxi driver knows how to get to it by name alone. You might not need one, though, as it’s very easy to find it by bus, too. Just take one that covers the whole of Cancun’s hotel zone. The access to the beach is only a few feet from the street. If you’re driving, you can leave your car at the small parking lot across the street.

Tortugas Beach

Tortugas is on a small cove, so the ocean is pool-like. It’s a great beach to enjoy with the kids, as they can splash around in the shallow waters without much danger. Because of that, they’re bound to make a new friend or two. This is a beach that is much frequented by families. Though, for that same reason, and its reduced size, it can get very crowded.

Available services

Here you’ll find all your beach basics like public bathrooms and places to rent umbrellas and deck chairs. But, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, why not visit the local bungee jump that stretches down to the water?

Finding a place to eat is no problem here. Tortugas is surrounded by restaurants and eateries. If you’d like to have a snack or two on the beach, you’ll find a couple of convenience stores close by.

Tortugas is not the only beach in the area, either. If it’s too crowded for your liking, other famous beaches (notably, Langosta Beach) are just a short distance away.
