Shangri-La Beach : Paradise Conveniently Located
You wouldn’t expect paradise to be in the middle of the city, but that’s exactly where Shangri-La is. Everything Playa del Carmen has to offer—places to eat, to party, or even to live—is only a few minutes away from this beautiful beach. Who knew paradise would be so conveniently located?
Shangri-La beach is in a very convenient location
If you walked the whole of Playa del Carmen’s 38th street, you’d see it eventually turns into sand and you end up in Shangri-La beach. Such an easy access makes it one of the most popular beaches in Playa del Carmen that doesn’t usually get too crowded.
It’s easy to forget you’re still in the middle of the city. There are countless businesses on 38th street itself. An Oxxo—a famous mini-mart in Mexico—is only a few steps away. A convenient place to get snacks and cold drinks for your day at the beach.
If, however, you’re looking for fancier food than chips and canned sodas, Playa del Carmen’s famous 5th avenue, with all its trendy stores, bars and restaurants, is only a few blocks away.
Places to stay at Shangri-La Beach
Because of this convenient location, and its natural beauty, Shangri-La is full of places to stay at. These range from fancy resorts (the Hyatt and the Hilton are only a few steps away) to small hostels. Some visitors even choose to rent an apartment for months at a time in Shangri-La’s residential areas.
The beach
It is not named that just because it sounds good. With its white sand and turquoise ocean, this really is a paradisiac beach; not to party, but to relax in.
And it isn’t small, either. There’s plenty of space for everybody. Even if there are a lot of people it never feels too crowded or uncomfortable. You do have to bring everything you’re going to need with you, though, as there are no rental places around, except for umbrellas for shade.
