See The Heart of Paradise at Corazon del Paraiso Cenote
Corazon del Paraiso Cenote is the heart of the jungle—literally. Its name means “the heart of paradise” and it’s not just a pretty-sounding name. From above, the surrounding jungle shapes it like a heart—and it’ll get yours beating.
Where is the Corazon del Paraiso Cenote?
Though it’s the heart of the jungle it’s not in the heart of the jungle, and you won’t have to travel far to reach it—it’s easy to find. Just travel down Highway 307, west from Tulum. In only 10 minutes you’ll see the sign telling you to turn off the road. Other cenotes, like Cristal and Escondido, are on the same stretch of road, as well as the Muyil ruins and the Kaan Luum lagoon.
What are the facilities like?
Quite… well, paradisiacal. It has everything to spend a few comfortable and fun hours here. Besides the usual bathrooms, changing rooms, and outside showers, there are tables for when you grow an appetite, as well. You can bring your own food or grab something at the snack bar. Corazon del Paraiso is a great place to snorkel in, so don’t worry if you forgot your gear, as you can rent it here.
Splash into the Corazon del Paraiso Cenote
This is an open cenote, one of those that looks more like a lagoon. There are several access points around the edge—wide, wooden stairs difficult to slip on. Some take you right to the edge of the water while others are submerged, so this is a great place to visit if you have children.
It’s quite deep, too. Over 20 feet in places, so don’t worry about diving from the platform. That, and its crystal-clear water, make this a great place to do some snorkeling.
Despite its beauty, Corazon del Paraiso is not one of the most popular cenotes around, and it’s not too crowded… yet. We don’t expect that to last.
