Tajma Ha Cenote
This place is ideal for professional divers. Or, simply, for those who wish to know a little more about this immersive underwater experience. Here, the natural beauties of Quintana Roo stand out. The Tajma Ha cenote is one of the best cenotes you can find in Quintana Roo. It consists of limestone tunnels that link together via labyrinths, fossils and even rocks. These acquire a beautiful visibility when the light reflects directly on them.
What to see
Throughout these lines we have told you that the experience in the Tajma Ha cenote will be unforgettable, but specifically why? The answer is precisely because each of the spaces that make up this unforgettable cenote are crossed by interesting reflections of light, especially if you travel between the months of March and September.
In addition, during these months the sun is at its highest, throwing reflections that make the spaces in tunnels and rocks look a very nice color. If you go a little deeper, you will also find halocline tunnels, which signal a point where the layers of fresh water meet salt water, providing a mirror effect.
How to visit the Tajma Ha cenote
The most advisable thing to do is to go through this cenote with a specialized company that has guaranteed professionals, because it can be quite deep, and if you do not have much experience you would be at risk.
It should be noted that the tour lasts from approximately 50 minutes to 5/6 hours, depending on the company you hire. Although there is the possibility of doing the tour on your own from the cavern entrance, in these cases it is essential that you have a diving and open water certificate, because you could end up trapped in some space of the cenote.
You should know that the tour begins with an outstanding cavern, where there is a large presence of bats that come directly from the jungle. Following this cavern, you will be able to visit different tunnels aligned with each other, where you will see the fossils we mentioned before.
How to get to Tajma Ha
To get to the Tajma Ha cenote you must head towards highway 307, which runs from Tulum to Playa del Carmen. At 5 km from Puerto Aventuras you will find the highway exit that will take you directly to Tajma Ha.
