El Camaleon golf course is a hole-in-one
The El Camaleon Golf Course opened in 2006. The Australian golfing legend Greg Norman designed it. This, to showcase the breathtaking seaside scenery. It features underground cenotes, lots of traps, fairways lined with sand dunes, and nearby freshwater canals. All golfers, of all skill levels find the course creative and balanced. The course is among the famous Caribbean coastline of Mexico, the extensive mangrove wetlands of the Yucatan, and the tropical jungle. Besides, it is an Audubon-certified eco-sensitive course.
Some history
The course is constantly shifting panoramas. This is why it is known as “the chameleon” (el camaleón). The championship course created history in 2007 when it hosted the Mayakoba Golf Classic. This was the first PGA TOUR competition held outside of the United States and Canada.
The enormous cenote is an old underground cavern. Locals discovered it during the first stages of the course development. The cenote is visible from the opening fairway. It highlights the indigenous and environmentally influenced design elements. This course intends to highlight the most attractive natural characteristics of its tropical forest and seashore environments in order to produce a golf course of tournament caliber while keeping a delightful sense of “playability” for players of all skill levels. The outcome is a golf course that offers a genuine, standalone golfing experience that is exclusive to its particular region of the world.

For its dedication to the environment and eco-friendly activities, El Camaleón golf course is recognized by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary. El Camaleón works to safeguard and sustain the land, water, natural resources, and wildlife habitats.
A 350-yard driving range, a putting green, and a short game area where you can practice chipping and bunker shots are all part of El Camaleón’s practice facilities. Food and beverage cart service, and unlimited range balls are all available to players at practice facilities. The course serves as the venue for PGA professional golf competitions every year, including the Mayakoba Golf Classic, which has the greatest prize pool of any golf competition in Latin America.
