Where is The Reef Beach?
The Reef beach is the beach of The Reef Playacar resort, in the exclusive gated community of Playacar, southwest of Playa del Carmen. Getting there is a breeze. Any form of public transport drops you off at any of the two access points. Taxis can go on through, just say you’re going to spend the day at The Reef Playacar resort. Once there, you’ll have to buy a day pass to enjoy the beach and more.
What’s the beach at The Reef Playacar like?
The Reef’s day pass basically makes you a room-less guest for the day, as it grants you access to the resort’s facilities and activities, which, of course, includes those at the beach itself.
This place is exactly what you’d expect from a Riviera Maya beach, described best by that trademark phrase: white sand and clear, turquoise water. This is a wide beach, too, with plenty of room for children to play on and adults to mingle. And, if relaxing on a deck chair is not exciting enough for you, The Reef Playacar resort has many other beach activities on offer: snorkeling and diving equipment and tours, paddleboards, kayaks, and jet skis.

Your day pass is not beach-exclusive, though; it gives you access to the rest of the facilities at The Reef Playacar. Top of the list: the pools. Two of them; one, annexed to a kid’s pool. Speaking of kids, The Reef has a kid’s club, too, with many activities for the younger visitors.
Guests can also visit one of the many (many, many, many…) The Reef’s bars and restaurants, like Botticelli and Terraza Grill. Some have dress codes, but if you’re not in a fancy mood, there are also bars, buffets, cafés, and even an ice cream parlor.
