La Noria Cenote. Jump In. Ignore the Bats.
La Noria is one of the newest cenotes around and it’s quickly becoming popular due to its size, beauty, and easy access. That might not be the case for those who don’t like bats, though.
Where is Cenote La Noria?
If you don’t have a car, La Noria cenote might be a little difficult to reach, as it’s not close to any main roads. It lies inland, north of Playa del Carmen. Extreme Adventure Cancun and Selvatica eco-parks are close by, to the east.
Facilities at La Noria Cenote
La Noria Cenote has all your basic cenote facilities to make your stay a fun and pleasant one. There are changing rooms and bathrooms, as well as lifejacket rentals and lockers to leave your stuff in.
It’s not common to find a cenote with more than one entrance, but La Noria has three. One top one, like a well, from where you can see the people already in the cenote having fun. If you can’t wait to jump in, you can literally jump in from here.
The second entrance is the most complicated one by far. A narrow hole in the ground which you have to climb down holding on to a rope and being very careful. This is the most inconspicuous of the three, as it will take you to the back of the cenote.
Finally, the main entrance is the easiest to navigate, especially for children and seniors. Wide concrete steps lead you down to a wooden platform from where you can lower yourself down to the water.
Inside the La Noria Cenote
If you’re not too fond of bats, beware. It’s common to find these creatures living among the stalactites, but this is a low dome, man—you’ll see them flying around at eye level. Don’t worry, though, as they are harmless.
The water is an amazing shade of blue. A platform in the middle gives visitors a place to rest or use one of the rope swings to jump in the water. There’s a paddle boat as well. Take it to explore every nook and cranny of this amazing cave.
